GRANT INFORMATION
We are active in the pursuit of grants, especially
from the Assistance to Firefighter's Act Grant,
Fire Prevention and Safety Grant and
SAFER Grant under
the Department of Homeland Security. For the past four years, we have actively applied and have been quite successful and
were awarded once under the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant, and twice under the Assistance to Firefighter's Act Grant.
In 2003, our department was awarded $40,000
from the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant for the purchase of a Fire and Life Safety Trailer.
In 2004, our department was awarded $246,240.00
from the Assistance to Firefighter's Act Grant for the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus.
In 2005, our department was awarded $269,496.00
from the Assistance to Firefighter's Act Grant for the purchase of new fire hose, nozzles, water/foam appliances, foam
generating equipment and foam concentrate.
In 2006, we applied again for the Assistance to
Firefighter's Act Grant in the amount of $340,480.00 for the acquisition of a tanker/pumper combination vehicle.
We were not awarded this round.
In 2007, we applied again for the Assistance to
Firefighter's Act Grant in the amount of $261,434.00 to purchase and outfit all of our firefighters with structural
firefighting protective clothing.
The purpose of these grants is to assist local fire departments in protecting
citizens and firefighters against the effects of fire and fire-related incidents. Because the grant is open to thousands
of fire departments and rescue squads throughout the nation, it is competitive. Basically, the more need you have, the
more you need to paint a good picture and present it, the better your organization's chance of being awarded.
We know how important it is to help another department, as such are providing
our grant narratives here on line for other departments to use. You will need adobe acrobat to view. The information we presented to you has been provided to
help you understand why our department was awarded and to maybe give you some ideas. All we request is that you do not
use the same format and plug in your information. If you would like to know the secret to writting a successful grant
application, the best thing to do is write what you know and our compassionate about. I am sure that in your organization
there is something that really troubles you, whether it is equipment, training, or something else that the grant can help
you solve. If there is no passion in what you are writting and is supported, then it will reflect in your grant
application. Our applications were submitted by Captain Jacob Brock and as you can see from the four, he has learned
what to say and how to present it. We hope these three narratives will help you. Good luck.
